We camped in the National Forest south of Red Lodge MT.We boondocked with a group from of SKPs who belonged to the BOF Boondockers group. This is what I had envisioned when we decided to live full-time in a motorhome. There were mountains all around and a river with water running swiftly. We parked the motorhome near this river and the sound of the water and the cool nights were perfect. Prior to arriving at the campsite, we lost all of the air from our back air bags.It took three hours to get those fixed and the mechanic noticed that the left rear mainframe was cracked. We limped to the campground and the next day we drove the car to Billings to find someone who could straighten the frame and weld it so that the motorhome would be safe to travel in. We found a welder that could do theto work under our extended warranty for the motorhome.
While camping south of Red Lodge, we took a day trip over the Bear Tooth Pass into Yellowstone National Park. The pass had been closed most of last year because of rockslides making the road impassable. The scenery was magnificent at each overlook that we stopped at along the route.
While we were waiting for the repairs on the motorhome, we went to Pompey"s Pillar National Monument which is the site of the Lewis and Clark stop on the expedition to the west coast.. This is the 200th year of the westward expedition.
It took the mechanic ten hours to fix our motorhome but he did a good job and it is riding level now.It was late getting finished so we stayed overnight at Wally World and went to Livingston on Thursday morning. We spent all day Friday touring the north loop of Yellowstone National Park.It was very hot today so wildlife was scarce although the scenery was beautiful.
